Welcome to our Shopify Abandoned Cart Recovery App documentation section. We have worked hard to make the process of connecting your Shopify store to Amico as simple as possible, but as with most things, there will likely be scenarios that we were unable to address with our onboarding tutorial. We hope that this section is able to address most, if not all of these. If for whatever reason, you find that you require further assistance, please reach out to us directly via Amico’s official Facebook Messenger Bot.
How Do I Install Amico’s Shopify App and Connect My Store?
To connect your Shopify store to Amico and start recovering abandoned carts through Facebook Messenger, you need to first install our Shopify app. After you click the “Get” button, you will begin the process of connecting your store. Our setup is automatic, and once you have successfully finished the process, your store should now automatically start recovering abandoned carts through Facebook Messenger.
How Do I Uninstall Amico’s Shopify App?
We’re sorry to hear you want to remove our app, but if you do this process is extremely simple. In your Shopify admin dashboard, find the menu item on the left hand side that says “Apps”. Click it and then find Amico’s apps in your list of installed apps for your store. To the right of Facebook Messenger Abandoned Cart Recovery by Amico, you will see a trashcan icon. Click this trashcan and then click delete to remove Amico’s app from your store. Your store has now been disconnected from Amico. After this, if you would like to also remove your Facebook page from Amico, login to your Amico dashboard and with your Facebook page selected, click the “Settings” section on the left side menu. At the bottom of this section, you will see “Delete this page”. Click this and then click “Ok” to remove your page as well. That’s it, your all done.
How Do You Send Abandoned Cart Messages to Facebook Messenger?
After you have installed Amico’s Shopify app, on each of your product pages you will see a “Send to Messenger” checkbox appear for users to click if they would like to receive purchase receipts and updates via Messenger. For verification of this, visit one of your store’s product pages and make sure that the “Send to Messenger” checkbox is appearing correctly. If it is, you can test that your abandoned cart messages are working by ticking the box and then clicking the “Add to Cart” button (or whatever button your store’s theme uses to add products to a user’s cart). Once done, do not complete the checkout process and within around 30 minutes you will receive your first abandoned cart message through Messenger.
I Don’t See The “Send to Messenger Checkbox” on My Product Pages
Uh oh, it looks like your store is using a conflicting theme. Don’t worry, we’ll get you recovering abandoned carts in no time!
1.) Your theme’s add to cart button does not have a class attribute that our app can recognize and correctly add our “Send to Messenger” checkbox below. To fix this, you’ll need to manually add a tiny bit of code to your theme’s Add to Cart Button.
2.) In your Shopify store’s admin dashboard section, look on the left hand side menu and find “Online Store” under the Sales Channels area.
3.) Click Online Store and then find the “Actions” dropdown on the right. Click it and then click “Edit Code”.
4.) Scroll down until you see a “Sections” folder. Click and open the folder.
5.) Now continue to scroll until you find your theme’s product template file. For instance, for the Debut Shopify theme, this file is called “product-template.liquid”. Once you have found the file, click it and it will open.
6.) Now click anywhere onto the file’s code area and then press and hold the Ctrl key and while holding it press the F key (Windows) or press and hold the Command key and while holding it press the F key (Mac).
7.) Into the search bar that appears, type “cart” and using the arrows to the right of the search bar, search until you find your theme’s add to cart button. For instance, the Debut theme’s cart button’s class begins like this:
8.) At the very end of your theme’s add to cart button class, just before the closing quotation mark, add this code:
9.) Click to save and now visit one of your product’s pages. You should see the Send to Messenger checkbox now appear. I Removed the Amico Shopify App, but The Code Didn’t Get Removed With It
Sorry to hear that you’re having issues, luckily this is an easy fix:
1.) In your Shopify store’s admin dashboard section, look on the left hand side menu and find “Online Store” under the Sales Channels area.
2.) Click Online Store and then find the “Actions” dropdown on the right. Click it and then click “Edit Code”.
3.) Scroll down until you see a “Sections” folder. Click and open the folder.
4.) Now continue to scroll until you find your theme’s footer template file. For instance, for the Debut Shopify theme, this file is called “footer.liquid”. Once you have found the file, click it and it will open.
